i have two requests here. Third option for admin - Welcome, Decline, and On Hold (or Put on Hold). Would be nice to have a third choice for group admins when someone requests to join the group, being "On Hold" - this will notify the other admins (if they check member requests status) that there is already an admin looking into the request (like messaging the requesting member to get clarification on their answers). Although it WILL NOT notify the requesting member, and its more of an admin internal communication (without needing to message each other) feature. Scenario: Our group invites alumni of a college. We ask requesting members what is their relationship to the college. An admin sees a request that is not clear on the connection to the college, so they choose the "on hold" option while they message the person for clarification. Other admins see it and do not process the request knowing someone else is looking into it. Once the initial admin gets a clear answer, they can Welcome the new member. Groups can change settings on how many admins are required to approve new members. In the spirit of co-governance, It would be nice for groups to have the option in choosing how many admins need to approve new members for the requesting members to join the group, so there is multiple confirmations and more transparency. Perhaps a tag on the members of who has approved them joining the group.

Desire to have a browsable list of skills and interests in the group

This link takes the admin to the group's main page. It would be great if the link went to the Member section so we could find that person and send a welcome message. Or...better yet...to that person's profile?

I tried to visit a group (e.g. Ecosystem Guild of the Salish Sea) on hylo with occasional posts by its creator, and when coming back to it after the Hylo redesign I thought I came across a broken site or something because I felt like I couldn't find any of the Ecosystem Guild posts. I tried clicking on 'Stream' which didn't help. I believe this felt even more exacerbated on mobile web where it wasn't obvious that child posts were enabled. I came back a day or two later on desktop and still experienced the issue. Eventually I realized one has to click and disable the button "Show posts from child groups you are a member of" to see the posts I was looking for. Perhaps there's another way to approach this design? Is it the responsibility of the group owner/admin to appropriately setup 'child groups' properly so such confusion doesn't happen? Or is there a different placement for the "Show posts from child groups you are a member of" button? Or a default that makes "Show posts from child groups you are a member of" disabled by default? Does the wording/framing around 'child' or 'parent' groups need to be thought of differently?

I love the new features, but not the new layout. The old design was more intuitive and easier on the eyes as well. Can you go back to the old layout and design, but keep the new features?

After creating a Request post I wasn't able to interact with the location to launch a map or find more information. The location is in grey text. Or is the location supposed to be displayed in the modal as a map plugin? I could not check the location was correct in either case.

Search doesn't load while typing or offer keywords. A the query term must be input with the enter key and then results are return. It's not obvious a return is necessary and there isn't a UI button to press to initiate the search

In addition there seems to be a relationship with topics that are used in other Groups! This makes some sense, but how a group defines a topic may change.. and there are some strange effects... like I can't create a topic #Community when there is an existing topic #community... this seems small, but for anal types, it is strangely frustrating to not be able to create consistency within a group. I would have a single interface that lists topics used IN the group and that allows various topic controls as a privilege. This could include adding or subtracting topics, as well as defining topics. I'd give some serious thought about cross-group topics, since definitions and contextual use may vary strongly.

We are working on bringing people who are not tech early adopters into Hylo, including people who have rejected the social media work in favor of direct relationships. Exactly the people we want to find and connect!! Hylo is rapidly getting to the point where it has TOO MANY features for these people. It would be useful to me and perhaps others to be able to simplify the post type options during startup (and perhaps forever.) I would like to offer ONLY, DISCUSSION, PROJECT, and EVENT, and hide REQUEST, OFFER, RESOURCE, and PROPOSAL. Also turning off more of the Nav Menu, might be useful... (not just add, but reduce). For example, Decisions, Groups, Explore, Create, could all disappear without much loss of short-term function for me. As you add more and more functions, this ability to put on training wheels might become more and more important.

The existing post icons are nice, but they are colored only with a thin outline. I wonder if the icon background could also have some color, so it is easier for the eye to pick up on those colors? In addition, it seems like having the colors and iconography always present could reinforce their legibility... for example, the color is in the nav menu, or the color and icon in the post type drop-down menu on a new post.
